Haven't tested with simulators yet, but all my tests on real devices worked fine. I guess it's a Unity quirk with simulators ...

I can see the phenomenon on
e.g.
iPhone 4 Tall (640 x 960)
iPhone 5 Tall (9 : 16)

On my iPod touch, screen fader works well though I do not know about ohter resolutions.
I also checked 640 x 1136 on Unity simulator. On simulator, screen fader does not hide correctly.
I guess it's a Unity quirk with simulators ...
