So after I made my thread about determining the direction a 2d sprite would be facing, I came to the realization I should get over my fears and make myself familiar with unity's C#. To my surprise, I picked up the tutorials very easily. Within hours, all the things that left me confused when ever I looked at a script become very clear. In fact, the following day I manage to scrape together 2 fully functional actions for playmaker that gets and sets all types of global variables.
I hope playmaker/ork users enjoy these actions, it was exciting making them and seeing them work for the first time. Let me know if there are any problems.
I was not completely ignorant to scripting before this. I've been messing around with game engines for years, starting with rpgmaker. So things like variables and arrays are not new to me. I consider myself an artist more than anything, so when I came to unity I avoided C# like the plague. This experience has changed my perspective quite a bit.
Thanks! I can empathize, I'm a game designer by trade, so my scripts are always a bit sketchy/hacky/brute force by nature. (Much to the disdain of engineering) Trying to find any sources where I can learn to make my coding structure maybe a little more elegant. :D
If you don't mind me asking, do you have the links for the C# tutorials you were going through?
