Is it possible to use a custom style for GUI Boxes? I've got a GUI all done in a PSD and I am in the process of creating a Unity GUI skin for it. I'm curious how I could, for instance, have a certain style for the main menu GUI box. It seems to me all content boxes share the same GUI asset, which makes sense.

Yep, all of ORK's GUI can have a Unity GUI assigned to them, including content boxes.

Framework > Menus > GUI Boxes > Any GUI You've Made > GUI Skins

I'm using around 15-20 different GUI skins myself for a variety of different menus/HUDs.

  • Thanks. But what about "styles" as defined in the "Custom Styles" area of a Unity GUI file? Is it better to use separate GUIs instead of defining styles or is this done by design?

Ahh sorry, I misunderstood what you meant. That, I don't actually know. I personally use multiple completely separate GUIs rather than defining styles as a matter of preference; but I haven't really experimented with custom styles myself. GiL will likely have the answer for that.

  • ORK Framework only uses some parts of the GUI skins - i.e. the font, box and button.
So no, custom styles aren't used :)

  • Thanks GIL, that's actually the answer I was trying to find. I was in the midst of skinning my main menu when I realized I couldn't specify a style set in the default GUI. So as I understand it, if I wanted to skin my main menu differently than say the other boxes, I would manually set the main menu GUI box to use it's own GUI and style it accordingly?

Thanks for your help in advance, I am really, really, really, REALLY enjoying this framework.
  • Exactly - the default GUI skin for all GUI boxes is defined in Menus > Menu/Shop Settings, but each GUI box can individually override the default skin and use their own.
