Kirb, your game is really nice... Awesome graphic, and seems so smooth and polite. Congratulations, i do hope to see it very soon!
I have one question: did you develop GUI (i'm referring to yellow menu showing in one screenshot) with ORK only? I'm really curios how did you use custom elements?
Yep, ORK only (aside from a lot of elements created in Photoshop). Basically I just took some clever advantages of using background images together with the ORK GUI. Took quite a while to get everything looking nice, though!
I should post an update; the GUI (and a lot of other stuff) has been considerably updated since that blog post...
It's wonderful, really, updating my little project with a GUI like that would be awesome: i will try to achieve a similar thing using fantasy setup. Just one last question: do you think it is doable with basic skills and GIMP or other free softwares?
Thanks for your answer, can't wait for seeing your updates, i love your DG game!

I absolutely love your screenshots. So inviting and so magical. And the gameplay looks like a lot of fun. The artwork is beautiful. Just replayed the cutscene. Looking forward to this. I've always liked sidescrollers.
>>Character in cutscene is supposed to toss crystal into the air, catch it, and then walk away cooly while saying something cool
>>Character instead tosses it into the air, drops it on the ground, turns around, grows to triple their size, and moonwalks into the air, forever
>>Coding??

The challenge is more in designing a functioning, intuitive GUI than implementing it, I think.

A quick look at a cutscene I just implemented. Lots of missing/placeholder sounds and music, obviously. :D
This weekend we'll have WISP's movement finally done as well; he'll follow the player around like Navi in Zelda.
