Changing the display of preview values

I'm attempting to create a preview value on my equip screen that is colored green and shows "+ n" (with n being the value) on a positive change and colored red with "- n" for a negative change.
Right now, using %c just gives "n" or "-n" and I have no clue how to change the way that text is displayed.
EDIT: Never mind, I found the positive and negative change text format boxes. I'll just use the current value instead of the change between values, I actually like that better.
