Research Tree - Exit/Cancel Key Bug

I have a menu screen with multiple different menu parts, things that display combatant's stats, equipment etc and within that menu screen is a "Research (Tree View)" menu part.

I have found though that if the box is focused, eg clicked on, so long as it is clicked on I can no longer immediately close the menuscreen with the cancel key or even with a dedicated "close screen key" defined in the menu screen settings.

I have to spam the key like 10 times before it finally closes or purposely click another UI box to get out of focus to close the menu screen.

I would appreciate a fix for this. There is something odd going on with this menu part, if I delete it completely from the menuscreen then that too fixes the issue of not being able to immediately close the menu screen.

Is the research menu part closed and the menu screen doesn't close or does it stay open?

The "Research (Tree View)" menu part is open, as in I can see the research tree on full display. When the box is focused, in my case I have "Focus Cursor Over" enabled, so when my mouse cursor is over it, I cannot close the menu screen at all, nothing closed, it is as if the input is blocked. As soon as my cursor hovers over another part of the menuscreen, eg another box/HUD and that is focused instead, I can close the menuscreen. There's definitely weird something going on.

I also get this error when I open this particular menuscreen with the research tree view. Although I'm not sure if it's directly related or if it's due to something that I've overlooked or haven't defined?

Using Focus Cursor Over will prevent closing the UI if you keep the cursor over a part that wouldn't close if you press cancel. E.g. an inventory menu with a type and a list box, focusing the list box and canceling will go to the type box, but focus cursor over immediately focuses back on the list box.
You'll want to use a Close Screen Key in your menu screen - and if it's the same as the cancel key, you need to set up the UI boxes of the menu screen to not use a cancel key.

As for the error - hard to say if that's a bug or a setup error. Since it's coming from the Menu List part, I'd need to see the setup for that part (or maybe even for the whole menu, or a Unity test project). When is this error being shown?

Thanks, yeah I had to define own controls for the UI box that is being used for the Research (Tree View). The specific box was the box used for "Tree View Box Settings". So I'm curious now for that box, is that how it's been designed, as in does it work similar to your example of the inventory menu with type and list box?

I couldn't get it to close because I was creating a loop with "Focus Cursor Over" and the define cancel key? Is that more or less what was happening and preventing the close?

Because after I defined own controls and set it to none, then yeah I could close the menuscreen with the define close key. Would just like to know if that was the case, in case I come into similar issues in the future and at least I might have a starting point to debug.

All menu screen parts work more or less the same, so even if the tree view box seems like it's a completely different thing due to the content it displays, it still works the same as other menus (e.g. with separate type menu or types as tabs, etc.).

And yes, that was most likely the case. For a Focus Cursor Over setup you should usually use such a setup, i.e. a close menu key that's either a different key than cancel (or the open menu key also being used as close), or not using a cancel key to prevent it interfering with the close key (when using the same input key).
