Hi! Wanted to ask this...

In my player group everyone has their own 'starting item', and some share the same starting items. But when I view them through inventory menu, they appear in separate stack although being the same items. Any way I can combine stacks of same item into one single stack?

Check out Inventory > Inventory Settings, there are separate settings for item, weapon and armor being stacked or split in the inventory. E.g. the Add Item Type setting set to Auto Stack should stack all equal items.

However, keep in mind that an item of the same kind isn't always equal, e.g. when using item variables with random values (or changed values), they're different items. Or equipment with random status bonuses :)
