I love it! It's been so long since I've played a platformer. They've always been my favorite. Your artwork is beautiful as are the animations. Wondering why being a blacksmith isn't useful there.
There's nobody around except a girl that can conjure swords out of nothing! That's bad for business. :D
Hey, sorry for the super late response! The art in Dead Gear is done by myself (all animation, spritework etc) and my wife, who does all of the portraits and much of the tileset work.
@Kirb good shit Kirb. i really wish i knew how to sprite well i can do ok sprites but nothing that good. im better at 3d modeling. what i really need is a touch pad so can draw out my sprites. since i know how to draw. then it should be easier im guessing. do you use templates for your stuff? like make character sketches before hand? i will say this though 3d modeling is fun to do. once you learn how to do every thing.<3 blender
Nah, unless I have something very specific in mind, I don't draw animation sketches for animations, really.
I mostly just create a neutral pose for any given character sprite and work from there, frame by frame.
I do use my wacom for drawing big sprites, like tilesets, bosses or huge enemies, but Illyia's sprites are done almost entirely with my mouse. Just a lot of pixel-pushing!
@Kirb funny how u mention wacom cause i just bought one the other day. which i should have by Wednesday. I have done 1 sprite + animation with my mouse and i tell ya it sucked so bad. i do not like the feel of using a mouse to draw. No idea why. It just dont. so even pixel-pushing would not work for me to well.
Woop, long time since an update. I've been so busy with my job that it had become harder and harder to work on Dead Gear; but at the beginning of 2018 I quit and started my own small indie studio, with the purpose of finishing the project for good.
We started from absolute scratch in January, allowing me to revamp and redo significant parts of the design; so significant, in fact, that it warranted an entire name change.
Oooooh ... Q4 2019 ... that's still so long away :( Are you also considering a Nintendo Switch version?
Congratulations on starting your own studio, hope everything works out for you :)

I would absolutely love to port to Switch; I have a few good contacts at Nintendo, so provided we have the budget for it, I think there's a good possibility for it.

@gamingislove
Haha, awesome! Really getting the ball rolling on all of the tilesets and areas now, it's a lot of fun. :)
