I've noticed this a long time ago. Jump interpolation in the player control doesn't seem to affect anything.
The jump always have a smoothing near the peak (you can see the character stopping mid air for a brief time) and then it instantly starts to fall down in a linear fashion and with no acceleration through time.

  • Well, yeah ... it's just a simple player control to get you started, for anything more/better you can use custom controls.

You can modify the gravity settings in game settings I think. This will let the player hover a little on the descent. Ironically -9.81 doesnt feel 'real', just tinker with it until you get the feeling you are looking for - and add a landing animation as well.
