Unity Mixergroup

I have a mixer group and have set up Makinom to route the sound and music to it.
I also have the option screen set up with music volume slider.
Everything seems to connect, but the slider only affects the audio source volume. Is it possible for the slider to effect the Mixer Group exposed volume parameter instead.
I have other unity asset that also plays sound/music, and I want to unify the volume control under the same mixer channel.
Can that be done, or there's better way?
Also after I set the volume with the slider, when I back out of the Options screen, the volume revert back to 1, the change is not saved. Any ideas?
