I'm curious. How many of you started out writing their RPG on their own and switched to ORK.

I had a semi-playable alpha (albeit bug ridden here and there) built. Looked at the amount of work left to be done, not including content development, and decided to give ORK a shot in hopes of actually completing my game idea.

With only a few hours a night for development, I've been at this far too long to not have something done :) (2009 when I first discovered Unity after working with Truevision3D and Torque - the MMOKit for torque)
  • It’s funny how I came to ORK, to be honest before ORK my last attempt was RPGMaker (years and years ago). It was just a series of “Hey I want to Learn this and that” that lead to me picking up unity. After playing around in unity and getting good at using it I found that trying to make a simple game wasn’t that quick. So I picked up ORK 1 and the shop extension, few months later jumped in the beta of ORK 2. In a few weeks I’m going to have something to show the ORK community first and I’m very excited!
  • I've been a professional game designer for a good couple years now, but I probably got my start with the original RPG Maker 98 as well.

For this personal project, I've been with ORK2 since the very beginning of the beta; but I'd actually started DG's platforming elements and character control significantly before.

ORK2 pretty much gave me the capability to do an enormous amount of things without having a coder as a middleman (although I still snagged a coder for my team anyway for other things). Pretty much one of the best toolsets I've ever come across.

That reminds me, I really need to update my showcase thread....
