Hey there! I'm testing out the new options categories and running into a few problems.

The biggest issue is that when I change a setting and accept it, the game seems to save those settings, but after restarting, it either rebinds or completely loses the accept button. When I tried adding a control category with a reset rebind, I accepted the reset just fine, but once I restarted the game, the bind was lost again.

I removed the saved options data and tried saving a setting like fullscreen mode, then accepted the changes. After restarting the game, the accept button binding was gone again.

Also, when I change the resolution and accept it, nothing actually happens. I’m not sure if there’s another step involved, but it’s definitely not saving the new resolution.

Most graphics option changes have no impact when testing in the editor, i.e. resolution or full screen mode changes are not used there.

As for input rebinding not being saved - is your setup for saving in the options data file or with save games?

For the input rebinding, I use saving in the options data file.

Also is there any documentation on how to setup the input rebinding correctly?

  • I’m not totally sure what’s going on, but more and more inputs keep failing. Right now, none of them are working at all. I tried deleting the save files, and that let me play once, but after restarting the game, the inputs stopped working again. I only ever rebind the “accept” input to test it, yet it seems like all inputs are broken. Unfortunately, I don’t have time to troubleshoot right now, so I’m rolling back to a pre-3.20 backup. Just wanted to let you know.
  • I made a backup of this (broken) build so if you want to check it out let me know.
  • I might need a Unity test project to check it out. Did some tests and works well on my end (saving/loading as part of the options data file).

The setup isn't really complicated (a tutorial as part of the playground series will come soon), you basically just need to define the input searches that should be available and input rebind options to your option categories.
