At some point in the feature i plan to write a script that would use Unitys master server to enable ork to be used as a MMO kit as well. no idea when ill get to it got alot going on since im working on 2 projects at once atm one for my job which is a multiplayer fps in unity and another for my self which is being done in unreal engine. But i do plan to do this for you all at some point. The script will be free.. just when i get to it will be another story.

  • What would you think of an Ork Bolt integration, once Bolt is out of beta. It will have a master server.
  • it would be easier to write a script that houses a master server that deals with just ork instead of trying to integrate something else. mainly because your pulling alot of info from ork and utilizing that on the server so that it can be seen across the network your playing on.
    so basically if you were to try to integrate something that is not specifically geared to ork it would cause more headaches on the coders end :p

  • Thank you for the response. I'm certain you are correct about that. I am not a programmer. What I like about Bolt is nat puch through, plus it is designed for Unity3d and it has authoritative movement with client-side prediction and lag compensated ray casting and replicates Mecanim. Maybe I could use your master server with Bolt. I guess it would be a trade off of headaches.
  • with the integration it would require its own custom camera , controller and animations scripts for server replication so the animations would be seamless anyways.

    The sole reason I mentioned photon and didnt mention Unity Networking nor bolt in my request for GiL to make ORK multiplayer was that i read that Unity 5.x will scrap the current networking and introduce something called UNet as their new networking. Hopefully though that will still be compatible with BOLT and other mp systems. I wish you well wtyson on your script or integration plans. Keep us up to date on your plans. Very interesting.

Do you think that this will affect your script or any integrations? I hope you will get to do a multiplayer solution for ORK. ORK is a fantastic single player framework but the ability to play with internet friends would be great too. Wishing you well on it all.

  • fholm at BOlT has said that BOLT will work on top of the new UNITY networking system, and function together. Either way, bringing multiplayer to ORK would be fantastic.
  • now the BOLT is bata yet, and low active. Don't know how many user use it.
  • wel as of now im working on using ork as a background manager for a game im working on for my day job. itll be using playmaker as the go between for ufps photon and ork frame work. as of now i have ufps almost 80% integrated to go over photon. and am also working on getting ork to realize that the combatant has spawned once i get over that hurdle ill be able to use about 70% of orks functions over photon. ill post my results on what can an can not be used over photon with out needing to alter ork code. and details on how to go about it if anyone is interested when im done.
