ORK 4 BETA 3
BETA 3 is here and can be downloaded on the ORK 4 BETA page.

This update mainly changes the remaining cases of old types being mentioned, e.g. sound type, animation type or portrait type settings have all been renamed to organizer type. The documentation and tutorials have also been updated.

Good News
The Unity Asset Store has already approved ORK 4, so a release in early September is now pretty much guaranteed!

That being said, ORK 2 is also still supported, but doesn't really receive any updates :)

There will be discounts, but I can't say how much yet. It'll also most likely be based on which ORK version you own (e.g. ORK 3 users getting a bit more than ORK 2 or 1 users).

ORK 4 BETA 4 is here!
This BETA only fixes an issue I added in BETA 3, sorry about that :)
Seems like some settings being automatically updated to the new organizer type naming could cause issues (e.g. in the Play Audio node in schematics).
It shouldn't have caused any harm as long as you didn't save a schematic where this occured - easily noticable at no nodes being displayed ...

gamingislove If I purchase an ORK 3 asset license, will that allow for upgrade to ORK 4 when it goes GA and during Beta? Or will that need to be purchased again? I don't see a purchase option while it's in Beta.

Additionally, if we purchase an ORK 3 license, will the Beta 100 count limit be removed, or is that hard locked during the beta?

The ORK 4 BETA isn't tied to the asset store - there's no purchase during the beta and no way to remove the limit. The beta version is simply a free test version with increased limits to allow testing it out.
Once it goes live in the asset store you'll be able to purchase it - and you'll need a separate purchase even if you own an ORK 3 license (though there'll be discounts available).

gamingislove Thank you. No release date set yet though for ORK 4? I would love to continue developing on 4, since I don't think what I've already done is backwards compatible to 3...

No fixed date yet, but it'll be in the first half of September, so another month at the most.
I could release it at any time, though, I just want to get more tutorials out before the release :)

How close are you to the setup limit?

gamingislove I have a larger external content database with about 4,300 records, but I deliberately only imported a beta-safe subset (40 status effects, 30 consumables, etc.)

ORK 4 BETA 5 is here!

This update adds a new Quick Curve Generation to status developments. This allows you to generate a curve with a start and end value and an interpolation to fill the values between without opening the curve editor.
There are also new quest status condition checks available.
Grab it on ORK 4's beta page.

The Quickstart 3D tutorial series has received a few updates and setup changes, e.g. now also adding AGI and DEX status values.
In case you haven't seen it yet, there are already a couple of tutorials available to extend the quickstart project with new features, e.g. hit chance, critical hits, using active time battles, spawning combatants and quests. You can also download the extended version of the project for testing.

I don't think I've mentioned it here, but UI toolkit will be supported as soon as it's stable enough and Unity itself recommends using it for production.
AFAIK Unity UI is still recommended to use in your games. Originally, ORK 3 got the modular UI system to support UI Toolkit in the future, and it's still not ready yet :)

ORK 4 BETA 6 is here!

Adds crafting schematics to content types (to allow overriding the default crafting schematics for all recipes of a type) and fixes some bugs.
There's also a bunch of new tutorials available, e.g. new quest tutorials and a new mini-series about crafting.

Hi GiL, so awesome to see ORK4. Great job so far!
After the birth of my kid i couldnt spent as much time in ork3 anymore as i wanted, but now i reached a point where i would love to go back in developement and what better start then ork 4!
Are you ok with suggestions for features to add in ork4? I thought that maybe now could be the time to perhaps suggest some ideas as long as youre in the developement of ork 4.
Thanks for the great work, looking forward to more content to come.
Pretty sure ork 4 is gonna be a gamechanger for me.

ORK 4 BETA 7 is here!

This beta adds target selection settings to content types - i.e. you can now control ability/item targeting via the content type. The per ability/item setup is naturally still available and used by default, to use the content type's setup simply enable Use Content Type in the target selection settings of the ability or item. This makes it easy to change targeting for mupltiple abilities or items at the same time.
Also, camera control types can now each define their own custom camera control transitions (i.e. fading position change between camera target changes).

There's also a brand new and extensive grid tutorial mini-series available. Beside the battle grid handling, it also makes use of ORK 4's new control handling by setting up a separate camera control for grid battles.

Not sure if this is the correct location for something found in ORK 4 beta.
When following the Gamepad Controls tutorial, the Left Stick Horizontal ID settings states to select the Axis: X
Only problem in the editor, I'm not seeing an Axis select field.
I only see:

Invert Axis
Axis Factor
Limit Axis

Is there something I am overlooking in the settings?

ORK 4 BETA 8 is here!

This beta adds new features to the Gamepad (Unity Input System) input origin in input keys. It now supports axis values from sticks, dpad and triggers. Previously it was only button inputs.

I setup Combined keys (Accept - the default demo button of space - and Button South: added for gamepad)
I go to the test NPC you have in the world scene. Both buttons will open his dialog.
However, only the original ACCEPT button will close the dialog.
In ORK 3, I had to set the Interactions Key to the Combined input key for both keys to open and close a dialog
I repeated this process in the beta; no luck. Is there some other setting that needs to be enabled for that to work?

It was already available before the input key tutorials where posted, I just didn't announce it here yet :)

Anyway, did a quick test and accept closing dialogues works fine on my end. Did you follow the tutorial, i.e. the original input key is changed to combined key and the copy remains the keyboard input? Only that way you don't have to change input key selections throughout the framework :)
